Why choose a medium voltage VFD instead of a soft starter?
Choose a medium voltage VFD when you need continuous speed and torque control during operation — for example, to vary pump or fan output, save energy, or precisely match motor speed to process demand. A medium voltage soft starter only controls the start and stop phase. VFDs typically offer larger energy savings on variable-torque loads.
Is the MVH2 compatible with existing motors?
Yes, the MVH2 is designed to work with standard medium voltage induction and synchronous motors. In retrofit cases, Benshaw can also assess motor insulation, cable lengths, and harmonic considerations to ensure the VFD operates reliably with your existing motor.
